The scenic Tamar Valley trains run daily all year round, linking Plymouth stations with Bere Ferrers, Bere Alston, Calstock and Gunnislake. It is one of England's most scenic rail journeys, with its highlight, the spectacular Calstock Viaduct.

The gigantic global garden, the size of thirty football pitches, is designed to tell the fascinating story of man's relationship with, and dependence upon, plants and is set in a breathtaking 35 acre crater.

The Tamar Valley www.tamarvalley.org.uk
The estuaries and valleys of the Tamar, Tavy and Lynher rivers form an unspoilt, beautiful and dramatic landscape, rich in wildlife and renowned for its industrial heritage. Together they were designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in 1995. One of only 37 AONBs in England. The Tamar Valley now has World Heritage Site status.

Dobwalls Adventure Park
A family run attraction now in our 36th season. The Forest Railroad is a 7 1/4 inch gauge based on the American Union Pacific and rio Grande railroads and has now carried well over 6 million passengers! Each track is one mile long climbing steep gradients and running through canyons and tunnels. The Union Pacific is based on the plains of Wyoming and the Rio Grande on the forests of Colorado. With a fleet of 9 engines, 5 steam and 4 diesel, including a working model of the worlds largest steam locomotive 'Big Boy'.

The Monkey Sanctuary Trust
The Monkey Sanctuary is situated in beautiful woodlands overlooking Looe Bay. For nearly 40 years the Victorian House & Gardens have been home to a colony of woolly monkeys. Watch a colony of Amazonian Woolly Monkeys in their extensive territory.

Beaches

Seaton Beach
Large beach of sand with small pebbles, south facing. Located at the bottom of the River Seaton valley. Parking is right next to the beach. Seaside Award 2006.

Millendreath Beach
South facing small cove of sand very popular with families. The surrounding area is largely taken up by a holiday park, which has many facilities open to the public.

Some of Europe's best beaches are easily accessible from the house, Newquay, Looe, St Ives, Whitsand Bay etc.

Looe Beach
A shingle beach with areas of rock to explore at low tide. Popular with the locals and boat lovers. There are lots of water sport activities all year round. A bathing area is cordoned off in summer.
